We are excited about the reopening of AiM Sports Academy. We are making sure that the safety of our athletes, staff , parents and guardians are our top priority.

Please find below the information and safety protocols that we have put in place.

 

WE WILL UPDATE THIS PAGE IF ANY AMENDMENTS, NEW GUIDELINES OR SAFETY MEASURES ARE ANNOUNCED RELATING TO AiM Sports Academy.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Our Aims 

Our main aim is to identify the health and safety protocols that will need to be put in place to maintain the safest possible environment for our athletes, staff , parents and guardians and to implement them before our reopen date.  

  • To ensure the Health and safety of athletes, staff , parents and guardians come first

  • To make sure all staff on duty during operating hours will be briefed on COVID-19 policies and procedures and will ensure that all government guidelines are adhered to.

  • To reduce the number of athletes returning to classes. 

  • To reduce the number of people in the building at any one time and maintain the 2m social distancing guidelines.

  • To reduce the coach to athlete ratios to fall in line with the COVID-19 measures outlined by the government guidelines.

  • To ensure any sports with high risk or where social distancing or the safety to athletes and staff cannot be maintained, will not run until government guidelines allow and is safe to do so.

AiM Sports Academy can confirm our venue and classes are completely compliant with all rules, regulations and health and safety criteria and government guidelines and have input additional measures to ensure the safety of athletes, staff , parents and guardians.

11 years and up MUST wear mask on entering the building and whilst moving around the venue.  

Preparing at home

 

We kindly ask adults to have children arrive at club wearing their training kit.

For gymnastics we suggest arriving in easy to remove shoes such as sliders or flip flops.

For Parkour and ninja please wear sensible foot wear eg trainers.

To stay hydrated we ask every child to bring their own personal drinking bottle. The cafe will be open for refreshments but purchases need to be made before the class begins or at the end of classes due to changes in entrances and exits.

Please remind your child about the importance of social distancing before coming to class.

Arriving & leaving

The following information only applies if you do not wish to use the cafe.

Only 1 adult should accompany your child to class,using the social distancing floor guides to queue.

To avoid bringing any non-essential items into the gym area, we kindly ask adults to take their child’s shoes, hoodies ect with them after drop-off.

Hand sanitiser stations are provided so children can clean their hands at the start, during and end of their class.

Reducing  crossover

We have a new safety routine to reduce the number of people entering and exiting the club at the same time.

If you are only dropping off your child and do not wish to use the cafe, you will need to use the now way system that is in place.

Our team will welcome adults arriving to drop-off children first, then adults picking up children from the previous class will meet at the fire exit door at the front of the building.

Classes will last an hour, we kindly ask that adults pick-up and drop-off their child promptly.

Temperature check

Before entering the club, a member of our friendly team will carry out a non-contact temperature check wearing PPE, including a face mask.

If any child has a temperature higher than 38 degrees C, they will be sent home and parents advised to self-isolate per government guidelines.

Coaches will wash their hands before and after classes with regular hand sanitisation throughout. Team members will wear PPE when required.

Children will train in groups with 1 coach, separate from all other groups, including warm up and cool down.

Gym equipment inside the club has social distancing guides.

During classes, all staff will ensure safety measures are being followed.

Venue COVID-19 Protocols

  • Venue opening times will be reduced and classes will be taken outdoors where possible. This will reduce the amount of traffic throughout the venue and allow us more time for cleaning.

  • Cleaning of the venue will be carried out, including disinfecting all surfaces at the start of each session. There will also be a deep clean scheduled throughout the week. 

  • Clearly marked hand sanitising stations will be set up on all entrance's and exit's and throughout the venue with sensor activated dispensers.

  • Building movements will be restricted, all building movements will have a single entrance point and exit point for each sport if more than one class on at a time. 

  • A one way system will be in place for drop offs.

  • No parents or guardians will be allowed to wait in the venue but allowed in the cafe.

  • No athletes that are not taking part in a class will be allowed into the venue. 

  • Social distance guideline stickers and tape will be laid out around the venue that people will HAVE to adhere too or will be asked to leave the venue. 

  • Athletes will also have to maintain a 2m social distance between each other during classes, if this is broken the participant may be asked to leave or sit out of the class.

  • All classes need to be booked online

 

 

 

Athletes, Parents and Guardians Responsibilities 

·       Please ensure you have read the above protocols regarding the COVID-19 measures.

·       Wash your hands for at least 20 secs on arrival in the venue. 

·       Use the dedicated handwashing/Antibacterial stations in between classes or stations.

·       You are to follow the designated root throughout the build according to your sport or one way system if you are dropping off a participant.

·       If you feel ill or may be showing any flu/ Covid-19 like symptoms, please do not attend or enter the venue.

·       If you have had any contact with anyone who is suspected/confirmed to have Covid-19, not to enter the premises and contact the venue if you have entered the venue during the time of possible contact. 

·       As soon as your class has finished you are to leave the building as soon as possible.

·       Maintain Social distancing at all times. 

·       Please come prepared for your class and bring any refreshment or clothing needed. 

 

 

 

Staff Responsibilities

  • To attend training of new AiM Sports Academy policies and procedures considering COVID-19. Ensure COVID-19 measures set by AiM Sports Academy are met by themselves and the athletes, parents and guardians that they are responsible for.

  • Protective masks or shields are to worn at all times throughout the venue and whilst coaching if indoors and social distancing cannot be adhered to, cooking or working behind the reception desk. 

  • If you feel ill or may be showing any flu/ covid-19 like symptoms to not enter the premises

  • If you have had any contact with anyone who is suspected/confirmed to have Covid-19, not to enter the premises and contact the venue if you have entered the venue during the time of possible contact. 

  • Every time you enter the venue you will sign in with your name, time and you will have to take your temperature and record this too and also sign out.

  • Ensure all members and staff are correctly following all health and safety procedures and COVID-19 guidelines.

  • Manage entry and exit of members throughout the venue in their designated entrance and exit routes depending on their sport. 

  • Staff will arrive to work with minimum belongings and will use directions set out by AiM Sports Academy. (PREVIOUS COVID EMAIL)

  • Coaches will be responsible for the cleaning of working areas and toilets. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Understanding COVID-19

What is a coronavirus? 

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from “the common cold” to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). The most recently discovered coronavirus is SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease COVID19. The name Corona comes from the shape of the virus when viewed under a microscope. The spike proteins make the virus look like the corona of the sun.
 

What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This virus had not been previously identified in humans. COVID-19 is a respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, sore throat and may also result in complications such as pneumonia.


What are the signs and symptoms?
The following symptoms may develop in the 14 days after exposure to someone who has COVID-19 infection: cough, difficulty in breathing, fever, loss of smell or taste.


Generally, these infections can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.

How Covid-19 is spread?
From what we know about other coronaviruses, spread of COVID-19 is most likely to happen when there is close contact (within 2 metres or less) with an infected person. It is likely that the risk increases the longer someone has close contact with an infected person.

Respiratory secretions produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes containing the virus are most likely to be the main means of transmission.
There are 2 main routes by which people can spread COVID-19:

·       infection can be spread to people who are nearby (within 2 metres) or possibly could be inhaled into the lungs.

·       it is also possible that someone may become infected by touching a surface, object or the hand of an infected person that has been contaminated with respiratory secretions and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes (such as touching door knob or shaking hands then touching own face).

There is currently little evidence that people who are without symptoms are infectious to others.
 

What are the symptoms?
An infected person may show some or none of these symptoms, but the main symptoms are:

·       A high temperature - This means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature).

·       A new, continuous cough - This means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual).

·       Anosmia - This means the loss of taste or smell.


Research suggests that you can be infectious up to a week before any symptoms show. Although showing these symptoms does not necessarily mean you have contracted the virus, you should follow the guidance and self-isolate as soon as you show symptoms. It is also a good idea to let others you may have been in contact with know, as they may also need to self-isolate. 

Testing
If you have any of the above symptoms, you should stay at home and arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19. - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you can ask for a test to check if you have the virus. This is called an antigen test.

Some important information to remember is shown below. 
Do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you think you might have coronavirus. Stay at home.

Use the 111 online COVID-19 service if you have any of the symptoms. This allows you to check your symptoms and get further advice.

 

Further government guidance:

If you live alone and you have symptoms of COVID-19. Stay at home for seven days from when your symptoms started.

After seven days, if you do not have a high temperature, you do not need to continue to self-isolate. If you still have a high temperature, keep self-isolating until your temperature returns to normal. You do not need to self-isolate if you still have a cough or a loss of taste/smell after seven days, as these symptoms can last for several weeks after the infection has gone.

If you live with others and you are the first in the household to have symptoms of COVID-19. You must stay at home for seven days. 

All other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. 

If you are in a household with someone who has shown symptoms of COVID-19 and you start showing symptoms. You all need to stay at home for seven days from when the most recent symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14 day isolation period.

The other household within a support bubble will also need to isolate if one household becomes symptomatic. The below is an illustration of how to isolate within a support bubble.

You do not need to call NHS 111 to go into self-isolation. If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or you need advice on your symptoms go to NHS 111 online. If you have no internet access, call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999.

 

 

 

What can you do to help yourself get better?

As with any illness, it is important to look after yourself to help get better, try to do the following:

·       Keep hydrated (drink enough fluids).

·       Eat well.

·       Stay active, if you feel well enough.

·       Look after your mental health.

·       Take medicines safely and effectively, according to the instructions.

If you have these symptoms then it's very important that you do not go into work. You must stay at home. 

 

How to prevent COVID-19?

Reducing the spread of infection is important. To do this we need to maintain high levels of hygiene and socially distance.

Some guidelines are outlined below to help you maintain your own safety and the safety of others.

·       Washing hands thoroughly and often
Hand washing is a very important part of preventing the spread of infection.

 

 

Staying alert and safe

The most important thing we can continue to do is to stay alert, control the virus, and, in doing so, save lives.
 

·       Social distancing
One way the government has been, and is continuing to tackle, the spread of the virus is encouraging people to practice ‘social distancing’. This means limiting the amount of physical contact you have with others to reduce the chance of either contracting or passing on the infection.
What steps can you take to practice social distancing?

·       Use technology to socialise and work.

·       Maintain distance from other people if you do go out.

·       Avoid gatherings of more than six people.

·       Maintain good personal hygiene.

·       Minimise contact.

 

·       Self-isolation

Self-isolation or self-quarantine is a method used to keep yourself away from others if you suspect you may have symptoms of the virus.

Here are some self-isolating tips:

·       Stay at home

It may seem obvious, but do not leave the house to reduce the risk of infecting others. Do not go to work, visit public areas, use public transport or taxis and, if possible, avoid leaving the house to buy food or essentials. Instead you can order online deliveries but leave a note for the delivery person to leave it outside your door, or ask for help from others for obtaining daily necessities. Which they can leave outside your door.
 

·       Shared household
If you live with other people then isolate yourself from others in the house. Stay in an enclosed room with the door shut, ideally with an external window for good ventilation. Those with even mild symptoms of infection should stay at least two metres away from other people in their homes and should sleep alone. Don't use the same cutlery, mugs, plates or glasses. Use separate laundry and make sure you wash at over 60 degrees.

 

·       Meals and bathroom usage
If you need to cook, do so when others are not around. Preferably use a separate bathroom from others; however, if you need to share a bathroom then make sure you clean it thoroughly after using it.

 

·       Shielding

This is most important for those who are at the highest risk. If you are shielding you should:

·       Not leave your house.

·       Not attend any gatherings.

·       Strictly avoid contact with someone who is displaying symptoms.

 

·       Best practices for work

All workers who are not working from home should travel to work if their workplace is open. Sectors of the economy that are allowed to be open should be open – such as food production, construction, manufacturing, logistics, distribution and scientific research.

As soon as practicable, workplaces should be set up to meet the new COVID-19 secure guidelines. These will keep you as safe as possible, whilst allowing as many people as possible to resume their livelihoods. In particular, workplaces should, where possible, ensure employees can maintain a two-meter distance from others, and wash their hands regularly.
